My friend Sarup and I embarked on our first trekking adventure to Gosainkunda, a sacred lake dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was a journey filled with challenges, breathtaking views, and unforgettable memories. Here’s how our adventure unfolded.
Day 1: Biratnagar to Kathmandu
Our journey began in Biratnagar, where we took a flight to Kathmandu. The excitement was palpable as we prepared for our first-ever trekking experience. After arriving in Kathmandu, we spent the day organizing our gear and resting for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Kathmandu to Dhunche to Bhanjyang
Early the next morning, we boarded a public bus to Dhunche, the capital of Rasuwa district. The ride was long but scenic, offering glimpses of Nepal’s stunning landscapes. Upon reaching Dhunche, we immediately started our trek to Bhanjyang. The trail was challenging but rewarding, and we reached Bhanjyang by evening. We stayed there for the night, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and the cool mountain air.
Day 3: Bhanjyang to Lauribinayak
The next day, we woke up to a breathtaking mountain view. We started a little late but were soon joined by a friendly family who became our companions for the rest of the journey. Together, we trekked to Lauribinayak, where we spent the night. The camaraderie with the family made the experience even more memorable.
Day 4: Lauribinayak to Gosainkunda and Back to Chandanbari
This was the most challenging day of our trek. We started early and made our way to Gosainkunda, a sacred lake dedicated to Lord Shiva. The trek was tough, but the stunning views and the spiritual atmosphere kept us going. We reached Gosainkunda around 11 AM and spent some time soaking in the beauty and serenity of the place.
After a few hours, we began our descent and reached Chandanbari by nightfall. We had to use our flashlights for the last part of the trek. Sarup and I were overjoyed to have completed our destination. We had a hearty meal and rested for the night, proud of our accomplishment.
Day 5: Chandanbari to Dhunche and Back to Kathmandu
The next morning, we trekked back to Dhunche and took a bus to Kathmandu with the same family we had met earlier. We checked into Hotel Shraddha Palace in Kathmandu, where we spent the night. The thrill of completing our first trek was still fresh, and we decided to get tattoos as a remembrance of this holy journey.
Day 6: Getting Tattoos in Kathmandu
The next day, we visited a tattoo studio in Kathmandu to get inked as a permanent reminder of our incredible journey to Gosainkunda. The tattoos symbolized our adventure, the challenges we overcame, and the spiritual connection we felt at the holy site of Lord Shiva. It was a meaningful way to commemorate our first trekking experience.
Day 7: Kathmandu to Biratnagar by Bus
On the final day of our trip, we boarded a bus from Kathmandu to Biratnagar. The long ride gave us time to reflect on our incredible journey and the memories we had created. As we returned home, we felt a deep sense of accomplishment and gratitude for the experience.
Conclusion
This trek to Gosainkunda was not just a physical challenge but also a spiritual and emotional journey. The stunning landscapes, the camaraderie with fellow trekkers, and the sense of accomplishment made it an experience of a lifetime. Sarup and I will forever cherish the memories of our first trekking adventure, and the tattoos will always remind us of the holy place of Lord Shiva.
